About Salford SU

Salford SU is an independent membership organisation and representative body of students at the University of Salford. We represent over 25,000 student members, and work to make sure that the University experience is the amazing, life-changing experience it should be for Salford students. We do this by offering a hugely diverse range of social opportunities including a range of different societies and sports teams, providing free academic advice and support, and representing students to ensure that they have a powerful voice on the issues they care about.

  • Our Vision (what we will be and do): “We will confront and overcome the barriers to learning to ensure all Salford students are unstoppable”
  • Our Mission (what we are here to do): “We empower students to make change and succeed”
  • Our Big Hairy Audacious Goal (what we want to achieve): “We will eradicate student loneliness at the University of Salford”.

Our Values

Out values are the things that are important to us. They describe who we are and shape the behaviours that guide us and our work. These are:

  • Student-Powered – we are undeniably driven by the needs of our members.
  • Partners – we are straightforward, transparent and collaborative.
  • Equitable - We ensure equity, diversity and belonging is at the heart of everything we do.
  • Kind – we are creative and progressive change makers.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion are central to our work at Salford SU. We value the different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences of our team, and we want all new colleagues to feel welcome and supported. Our team cares about creating, supporting, and celebrating diverse and inclusive student and staff communities. If you care about making a difference and empowering others, we want you on our team!

Impostor Syndrome is the overwhelming feeling that you don't deserve your success. It can convince us that we are not as intelligent, creative or talented as we may seem. It often strikes when applying for a job. Don’t let impostor syndrome limit you. Beat the syndrome - apply!

Frequently Asked Questions

When will I hear about the outcome of my application?

For most of our roles, we start the shortlisting process after the closing date. When we get a high number of applications it can take us a while to get back to everyone. However, we do aim to respond to everyone.

When will you be recruiting for Atmosphere Student Staff?

Normally we start to recruit to these roles at the end of Trimester 2 / beginning of Trimester 3. However, we may take on staff at any time in the year, so please check back on this page regularly if you are interested.

Do you accept speculative applications?

Currently, we’re not able to process applications that are not submitted for a role we are currently advertising. Thank you for your interest in working for us, we hope you see your perfect role advertised here soon.
