At Salford SU, we’re dedicated to making sure you feel at home. We’ve got tons of events, societies, and services designed to help you settle in, make friends, and make the most of your time here.

Whether you need advice on where to find the best local food, tips on adjusting to UK life, or just someone to chat with, we’re here for you!

Travel to and from campus

The 50 Bus: Salford Students can travel for free when presenting their student ID on the 50 bus between Peel Park Campus and Media City Campus in Salford Quays. The 50, and numerous other bus routes, will also pick you up outside the front entrance of the university to take you straight to Manchester City Centre - all single fares cost £2.

Salford Crescent: This is the University's nearest train station, between Peel Park Campus and Frederick Road Campus. Students can access the city centre, the airport, surrounding Manchester suburbs, and cities such as Blackpool and Liverpool from here. Students below the age of 30 are also able to apply for a railcard to help manage travel costs.

Getting started when you arrive

Registering at the GP: All students at Salford, both home and international, are able to register with the GP on Peel Park Campus and make appointments regarding their health needs throughout the year. The university has more information for students on their website.

Registering at the Dentist: Information about registering at a dentist can be found at the local GP on campus, and there is also local emergency dental services available.

Using Inspire: Did you know you could use Inspire to join SU societies and clubs. You can also find deals on clothes, technology, text books, stationary and more - check out the Inspire website.

Rafiki: You will receive a welcome check-in call from our Rafiki (student peer-to-peer support) team during trimester 1. Rafiki also put on activities throughout welcome and it's a great place to link up with other students in a supportive environment.

Making your new room a home

Buying fun bits for your room: Over Welcome Week we will have lots of opportunities to find things to decorate your new room! We will have a poster sale, vintage clothes sale, a book-swap and poster pop up sale - find all of our events listed on our website.

Add a bit of you: Make sure you put things up in your room that makes it personal and makes you smile. Whether it's a favourite soft toy, photos of friends and family or even some cozy fairy lights - make your room a comfortable space to feel settled during your first few weeks at uni.
