After kicking off the festivities with Winter Wonderland last Wednesday, we’re still feeling Christmassy at the SU!
So, we’ve had a nosey at what other festive events are happening in and around Salford over the Christmas period, and it turns out there’s a lot to do to see Salfordians into 2025! It’s never been easier to support local communities and businesses...
If you’re still about over the winter break, we’ve compiled all the best events and activities into this dead handy list so you can add them straight to your calendars!
1. Salford Arts Theatre are Bringing the Panto Spirit with Cinderella throughout December...
Feeling drained after exams and deadlines? Why not blow off some steam and enjoy a bit of lighthearted humour with Salford Theatre Company, and their hilarious Wicked Stepmother and Stepsisters?!
With tickets from £9, it’s a bit of a no-brainer. Plus, there's showings at 11 AM, 2 PM, and 7 PM, so you can decide what time suits you best.
Hurry though, tickets are going quick! You can buy them on the Lowry website!
2. Grab some Artisan Christmas Gifts at the Festive Maker’s Market on the 14th and 15th of December...
The Makers Market (@_makersmarket on Instagram) have been empowering small local businesses since 2011, and they’re bringing an extra special festive market to Quayside Media City on the 14th and 15th December!
Think: unique gifts, tasty treats and festive vibes. Very similar to our Winter Wonderland Makers Market, actually!
Support the best local makers, bakers, and creators and get down there this weekend!
3. Go on an Enchanting Journey through the Light Show at Salford’s RHS Bridgewater...
Running up until the 30th December, at the world-class Bridgewater Gardens in the heart of Salford, is RHS Glow – an extra special light show!
There’s plenty of photo opps, including a sparkling star arch, and of course you can grab a mulled wine or hot chocolate while you walk around.
So, wrap up and head over to soak in the breath-taking illuminations. Don’t forget, you have to book your tickets in advance on their website!
4. Head into Town for some Carol Singing at Manchester Cathedral...
On the 17th December, it's worth getting the bus into town because the charity Home Instead are putting together an evening of carol singing at Manchester Cathedral!
Support lonely and isolated adults this Christmas, and enjoy some wonderful performances from The Music Place, Sale Grammar School, Sing Space Choir and classical guitarist duo Jenny and Derek King.
(I’m asking for Little Donkey if they’re taking requests).
5. Ring in the New Year at The King’s Arms Lock-In Party in Salford...
Hosted by drag performer and DJ Vanilla Bon Bon, the annual NYE Lock In Party is back!
The King’s Arms is an independent pub in Salford supporting local arts, from comedy nights to open mics.
The pub is pet-friendly, with its very own mascot, Charlie the cat. Support a small business this NYE and party at The King’s Arms!

It’s been a busy term! Pat yourself on the back for all of the work that you've done and treat yourself...
