New year, new us... AND new events for January's Welcome Week!
This year, we're welcoming back loads of fun, FREE, events, as well as bringing in some new events to start the new year off with a bang!
Here's our top 6 events that will be on around campus this welcome week!
1. Free Sport Taster Sessions!
Starting on the 7th Jan, we've got LOADS more free sport sessions taking place for you to try out! And if you've ever wanted to try a new sport, but don't want to pay the price, this is your time to shine!
We've got everything from archery to volleyball to football, so there's something new for everyone to try!
Join us in the sports hall for your free taster session, have a look at what sports we've got to offer from the list below!
- Tuesday 7th January – Badminton, 5:30pm till 6:30pm
- Thursday 9th January – Futsal, 8pm till 9pm
- Monday 13th January – Archery, 4pm till 6pm
- Tuesday 14th January – Badminton, 5:30pm till 6:30pm, Volleyball, 7pm till 8pm, Mixed Football, 5pm till 6pm (on the 3G Pitches)
- Thursday 16th January – Netball, 5pm till 6pm
- Friday 17th January – Ultimate Frisbee, 6pm till 7pm, Women's Backetball, 8pm till 9pm
Be sure to book your tickets for these as spaces are limited, and we don't want you to miss out!
2. Manchester United Stadium Tour!
If you're a students at the University of Salford, you know how big the football scene is in Manchester... and that's why we've organised a discounted tour for students!
From just £8, you can immerse yourself in the United story on the Manchester United Stadium Tour at Old Trafford.
Champions of England and Europe, and fresh off the back of a point away at Anfield (tough to write as a Liverpool fan!), join us on 14th January at the Theatre of Dreams and have the experience of a lifetime!

3. Home away from home!
Are you a lover of all things nature, plants and greenery? Looking for an affordable, easy way to jazz up your uni room? We've got the perfect thing for you!
Join us for an afternoon of creativity in the Northside on 13th Jan, 12pm-3pm!
You will be able to plant your own succulents, get artsy with decoupage (decou-what-now?!), and even do some glass painting!
12pm – 1pm 🌿 Succulent Planting in Glass Jars
1pm – 2pm 🎨 Glass Bottle Painting
2pm – 3pm 🖼️ Decoupage Decor pieces
4. SU Movie Night!
Do you love watching films as much as we do?! If that's the case, come along to our SU Movie Night!
Join us on 10th January at 6pm in Lewis Latimer to unwind and enjoy a captivating movie, followed by a group discussion to share thoughts and insights about the film. From one film lover to the next, you don't want to miss this!
Just grab some popcorn, yeah? 🍿
5. Welcome Fair!
As always... you can't miss our Welcome Fair!
On 17th January, head down to the Sports Hall between 10am-4pm to meet all the sports clubs and societies that your SU has to offer!
Visiting the Welcome Fair is the best way to discover new clubs and societies that you might be interested in, as well as meeting their committee members, so it's a great way to get involved!
And you better believe there'll be free Dominos Pizza... 🍕🍕
6. Atmosphere's Events!
Atmosphere, the home of all evening events here at your SU, and home to the best drink deals on campus.
And this Welcome Week is no different, with Atmosphere JAM-PACKED week full of exciting events for everyone to enjoy!
From their weekly quiz and bandaoke, to a games tournament, to Bonkers Bingo... there really is something for everyone!
