What will you be doing?

As a Student Advisor, you will be delivering high-quality impartial, independent, advice service to Salford students, through information, advice, guidance, signposting and referrals. You will work closely with Salford SU advice team to support students with various issues and help them to continue with their studies: You will be:

  • Providing personalised support on academic issues and other aspects of student life, through in person appointments, phone calls, video calls and email.
  • Undertaking accurate confidential, and legally compliant records of student client and casework details.
  • Approaching casework in a holistic manner, recognising students may require support for academic and non-academic issues as well as offering varying levels of support dependant on student’s needs.
  • Working collaboratively with the SU Advice Team to create self-help information and campaigns to improve students’ knowledge of policies and procedures.
  • Supporting the development of the advice service by taking a pro-active approach to areas of concern for the student body.

Students applying must be currently enrolled on a course at the University of Salford. This is a paid role. Student Staff are required to commit to between 5-10 hours per week.

  • have good communication and customer service skills (written and verbal)

  • are able to work well in a team
