Welcome to Salford Swifts! Come down and join one of the fastest growing university sports in Europe! We're a mixed student led, slowpitch softball team that trains once a week. We're a friendly and easygoing society, and we're hoping to compete in various tournaments and leagues in and around Manchester.
Softball is a bat and ball sport - similar to rounders and baseball - that is fast paced and easy to get involved with. 2 teams of 10 (5 guys and 5 girls) compete against one another to score the most points through home runs. Unlike baseball, we play with a bigger ball and pitch underarm - however, contrary to what the name suggests, the ball isn't actually very soft. With a role for everyone of all abilities, softball is a fun & competitive sport that's great to get involved in!
