Whether you're new to Rock Climbing & Mountaineering or looking for your next hit of adventure, SUMC is the club for you! Salford University Mountaineering Club (SUMC) is the most adventurous sports clubs at the university. We take part in a wide range of disciplines including bouldering, roped climbing, outdoor climbing and mountain climbing. Casual Rockover sessions, training, outdoor trips and weekly socials are just part of what we offer to our members. We welcome all abilities, from complete beginners to seasoned alpinists, and love to help members improve their skills and gain confidence. We look forward to meeting you!!
Membership for the year costs only £60 which includes access to all our climbing meets, socials, trips, and everything else we do!

Whether you are a complete beginner or just want to improve your skills then SUMC is the place to be. At all our sessions other club members will be on hand to improve your climbing skills and you’ll be surprised at how quickly you will progress. We will be running an introduction to ropes climbing at the start of the year so keep an eye on our socials!
We run regular trips to areas around the UK to for climbing and mountaineering. The fresher’s trip to Snowdonia is already shaping up nicely…
