About Us:
The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club at the University of Salford is small but ever growing. We’ve been around since September 2022 and have come a long way since. We have just the one team of mixed ability ranging from beginner to a few years of experience, but all training is tailored to be beginner friendly and then slowly pushes you to want to improve. BJJ is not a common sport so does not get much attention in other universities, because of this we don’t participate in BUCS or other university competitions, but we are trying to enter external competitions as the club has grown.
Training:
We train 3 times a week at the following times:
Monday 4:20pm – 5:40pm
Wednesday 5:00pm – 6:20pm
Friday 4:20pm – 5:40pm
Monday sessions usually consist of no-Gi training (normal gym clothes/compression clothes), Wednesday sessions are typically a Gi class (traditional BJJ wear), and Friday sessions are open mats (both no-Gi and Gi and be brought). It is recommended that beginners try no-Gi first but we’re more than happy for those interested to come to see us at training of any sessions if they want to see what it’s all about.
All our training sessions take place in the squash court located in the sports hall on campus.
