WHO ARE WE?
Almost Famous is a theatre company dedicated to having fun whilst putting on incredible shows which showcase our talented members. We strive to make the performing arts inclusive and accessible to all, as well as providing a social and safe environment for our members. One of our main aims this year is to build bridges between departments and we cant wait to welcome everyone of all talents into our society, including performers, lighting and sound engineers, costume and set designers, and stage and production managers and much more!
DO I NEED EXPERIENCE TO JOIN?
We welcome all abilities into Almost Famous. You definitely do not need any experience to join. The group is a place to improve your skills, grow confidence and make friends for life.
SHOWS & PERFORMANCES!
This year, Almost Famous will be putting on a number of shows: the play ‘The Importance of Being Ernest’ and the musical ‘Carrie’. As well as this, we will also be putting on our annual "Winter Showcase" and “Summer Variety" shows!
THE AUDITION PROCESS
You do not have to audition to be part of the society - auditions will be held individually for each show. Breathe. Be yourself. Do your best. Chances are 50+ people are feeling exactly the same way as you do while waiting to audition. Support each other, we don't expect any Oscar-winning performances, just have fun!
I’M A FIRST-YEAR... IS THERE A CHANCE OF A MAIN ROLE?
Of course, there is! We have had so many impressive first years come along and snatch a main role in the first semester, so go for it! Roles are earned and are given to those who show the most potential during the audition. We look for talent, enthusiasm, confidence, and commitment!
SOCIETY LIFE
Although we are first and foremost a theatre company, we are here to have fun! We aim to make all of our members feel a part of the Almost Famous family from the start. Our Social and Wellbeing Officers are here to help with anything you are dealing with as we all know how hard it is being away from home and dealing with new situations on your own. We're a friendly and inclusive society! We organise as many activities as possible, from sober socials like movie nights to big society nights out, there is always something for everyone! And of course, as a theatre company, we do love a karaoke night!

September 2024 - Theatre Through the Decades
Almost Famous Theatre Company invites you to our first show of the year! A collection of musical performances and monologues celebrating ‘Theatre Through the Decades’ – all auditioned, rehearsed and performed within a week! This challenge will showcase the hard work, dedication and superstar talent of our company and set the stage for our future shows.
December 2024 - Winter Showcase
A night filled with fun, festive cheer, and fantastic talent from Almost Famous Theatre Company! In the New Adelphi Studio, prepare for the amazing performances that await, with a few Christmas tunes to lift your spirits and celebrate the wonderful performers in our society! (Rehearsals begin in October)
January 2025 - The Importance of Being Earnest
Oscar Wilde’s classic play The Importance of Being Earnest makes its way to Almost Famous. Filled with romance and comedy, Wilde brings to light themes of marriage, class and the social expectations of 1895. (Auditions will begin week beginning 30th September)
Februrary 2025 - Carrie!
Will it be a night you’ll never forget? We certainly hope so! As horror invades the New Adelphi Theatre in March 2025. Based on the 1976 film by Brian De Palma, the storyline follows Carrie, a troubled teen as she navigates her way through high school. (Auditions will begin week beginning 30th September)
May 2025 - Summer Variety
Here at Almost Famous we like to end the year with a bang; introducing: Summer Variety! A place for members to have one last time to shine on stage for the year. Filled to the brim with classic show tunes from all the hit musicals, phenomenal dancing, theatrical performances, and talent from all our members! (Rehearsals begin in March 2025)
