Our services are here to support you throughout your time at University, and to give you impartial and non judgemental advice when you need it and help ensure your academic interests are represented.
What can we help you with?
If you’re not sure who to speak to about something, you are always welcome to contact the Advice Centre. We will support you where we can, otherwise we will direct you to the best place to get some help.
We offer support in the following areas:
- University Policies and Procedures: this includes questions around:
- Academic Misconduct
- PMC's
- Academic Appeals
- Complaints
- Fitness to Practise
- Support to Study
- Student Misconduct
- Housing Advice: We can answer questions about your rights as a tenant, and what to do if something has gone wrong.
- Benefits Advice: We can check your eligibility for UK benefits and help you to start the claim process.
- Food Bank Referrals: If you need to access emergency food, we can refer you to a local food bank.

Visa and Immigration questions: You can contact the Salford University Immigration and visas (Home Office Compliance) team using the following details:
Mental Health Support and Counselling: If you are having a difficult time, you can also contact Care First who are staffed by experienced counsellors, offering emotional support and practical advice. The service is available to all current students and access is unlimited. Students can access this by calling: +44800 970 1080. University Counselling is also available to students.
Student Loans and Financial Questions: For financial support you can speak to the university Money Matters service to get support around financial issues, including dealing with any problems you may be having and extra funding which may be available. You can also talk to our Rafiki student staff who offer peer support. They can also signpost you to support services on campus or externally which can help. You can find information about Rafiki Peer Support.
Advice Centre Bookings Portal
If you have a quick question about an advice issue, it will be much easier for us and quicker for you if you email us at su-advicecentre@salford.ac.uk. Please be considerate of Advisors and other students time and only book in one appointment. Should you need any following appointments your Advisor will book these in for you.
Advice Centre Referral Form
Anyone can use the Advice Centre Referral Form. If you are a university staff member and referring as a third party, please ensure you have gained consent before referring over a student. If you are a student and would prefer an advisor to reach out to you, please provide as much detail and information as possible so the advisors can give accurate and specific advice.
We will aim to contact you within 2 working days however please note during busy periods it may take longer to contact to you. In the meantime, you can find further information on the university website.
We will try to help resolve an issue and answer any questions when we contact you, although some complex enquiries may require an appointment. In these circumstances, the advisors will help book an appointment at a convenient time for you.

The Advice Centre is open from 10am-4pm, Mon-Friday.
During opening hours, we will be monitoring our email inbox. Appointments are bookable Mon-Friday. If you would like to book an appointment, please book below. You can book an appointment up to 30 days in advance.
